Group Project

Overview

During the semester you will learn about the many benefits of Agile IT Project Management. You will be part of a team and use an agile and technology-rich approach to self-organize and manage your project.

At the end of the semester your team will give a presentation on an IT topic via web conferencing technology. Your team will use a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to manage milestones, assignment of work, and selecting a team leader.

Team Lead

Every project that a company initiates needs a leader who will manage the project so that it runs smoothly, meets milestones, is on budget, and achieves the desired results. Your team will select a team leader who will:

Being a team leader is an excellent experience that you can share during an interview or list on your resume. Due to the increased tasks during the semester, the team leader will be responsible for only the introduction of the team and topic and conclusion during the actual presentation.

Final Deliverable: Presentation

Your team will pick a topic. Your team will present this topic at the end of the semester using conferencing tecnhology. The presentation will be 20 - 25 minutes in length with integrated discussion. Your team will be stopped after 25 minutes so it is critical to assign a team member to keep track of time and self-monitor.

In your presentation, you will “teach” the class about your topic and appropriate address the following items:

Assume everyone in the audience is completely new to your topic.

If you use a video it should not be longer than 3 minutes.

All meetings and preparation for this presentation will be done without meeting in person. Use the computer meditated tools discussed in the readings, lecture and lab as much as possible. The Google presentation slides created for your team must be shared with full permissions with me as history will be reviewed to determine fair group participation noting that participation may come in different forms such as formatting, ideas, actual content, project management, etc.
